Vandy Wins The “Could Of” Battle But Loses The Game…

The SEC kicked off football with an exciting game last night as South Carolina traveled to Tennessee to take on Vandy. The game went back and forth with a ton of exciting plays as Marcus Lattimore fumbled on his first carry, but Vandy gave the ball back on an interception soon after. USC went ahead 10-0 before Vandy battled back to take a 13-10 lead. The Commodores had a surprisingly effective defense which was helped out when the starting QB for USC spent some time on the bench due to an injured shoulder.

Ultimately it came down to a 4th down pass that Vandy needed to complete to keep their last drive alive. Replays showed a very clear pass interference call that was missed, leaving Vandy to wonder “what if” and USC happy to leave town with their first victory, and an important in-conference (in division) victory at that.

But USC hardly looked like a top ten team last night, and I think Vandy exposed some weaknesses that other teams might be able to exploit.

Can’t wait for Michigan / Alabama this weekend. 😎
