Bolt Is Scary Fast…
I’ve been reading a bunch about Usain Bolt, mainly because the idea that someone can be so fast is really fascinating for some reason. Sports Illustrated put him on the cover recently. It’s amazing that someone as tall as he is has the mobility and speed that he does. One article suggested that it was like Yao Ming having the quickness of Chris Paul. 
But I’m not a big basketball fan, I am much more interested in football. So I was also happy to find and read an article by one of Yahoo!’s sports columnists where he talked about how fast Bolt would run the 40-yard dash. Keep in mind that Bolt runs the 100 meter race (as well as the 200m) so he’s never been timed in the 40 yard dash that is used to judge football speed. A really good receiver or cornerback should run the 40 in the low 4 second range. 4.2 seconds is considered awesome speed for a football player.
According to some analysis of the “split times” (times recorded every 20 meters of the 100 meter run) Bolt would run somewhere between 3.7 and 3.9 for the 40 yard dash.
Yeah, that’s “scary fast” in my book.
