Big 12 South Fiasco
So of course I am not the only one writing about this. In case you’ve been hiding out somewhere and don’t know, Oklahoma has been picked to go to the Big 12 championship game, leaving Texas to sit on the sidelines. Why? Because they were ranked higher.
One of the biggest flaws in the poll system is that it penalizes late season losses more than early season losses. Oklahoma is going to the championship because they lost first. After they lost to Texas, then Texas lost to Texas Tech, and finally Tech lost to Oklahoma. He who wins last, wins best, I guess. If any of those games had shown the same outcome but in a different order, who do you think would be going to the big game? Whoever lost first, I can just about guarantee it.
All of Austin will be rooting for Missouri for that game.
If they win, then Texas is the obvious choice to go to the championship game against either Alabama or Florida.
