Not Up To Expectations

LSU played Arkansas in what the media has tried to promote as a “rivalry” game. I suspect it’s mostly because of the geographic proximity, and the fact that the game is scheduled at the end of the season when other rivalry games (Auburn – Alabama, Florida – Florida State, and so on) are played. For the first few years I think the LSU fans were “meh” about the game, but lately there have been some good ones.
Yesterday was probably an exciting game for Arkansas fans, but it was a huge downer for LSU. They committed two unsportsmanlike penalties on the final drive that allowed Arkansas to steal a 31-30 win. The loss guarantees LSU will slide even further in the bowl game hunt and provides a needed lift for an Arkansas program that has seemed to be in disarray after forcing out their long-time coach last year.
Other games are going to be played today (Saturday). The biggest game as far as the BCS goes is certainly Oklahoma / Oklahoma State, which will be played tonight at 8:00 ET.
I plan to be watching.
