LSU is No Michigan

You have to wonder if Les Miles knew what he was doing when he put out the press release last year that clarified his position regarding the coaching vacancy at Michigan: he wasn’t interested. Now I think I know at least part of the reason why… SEC Football is where it’s at. :) LSU took care of Appalachian State 41-13 in a very early game today. They raced out to a 31-0 lead and coasted home from there with backup players getting some experience. From the look of the schedule LSU should be able to get some much needed game-time experience over the next few games as they next take on Troy followed by North Texas, both at home. Their first real test will be at Auburn in the fourth game of the season. For the past few years the home team has won that game, and whoever comes out on top is certainly going to be in the driver’s seat for the SEC West title this year.

We certainly didn’t answer any questions at quarterback. And we won’t have the luxury of outweighing our oppontents by an average of 60 pounds for the rest of the season. But at least LSU didn’t pull a Michigan and lose to a second division school…

Meanwhile elsewhere in the SEC: Florida has trounced Hawaii, and while Georgia won their opener they have injury questions to deal with now. South Carolina won their initial game.
