What a “super” bowl!
For once the game was better than the commercials. 
The defining play for this Super Bowl is almost certain to be Eli Manning escaping from a sack, spinning out of the pocket, and heaving the ball downfield where it was caught for a first down. David Tyree leaped up high enough to snare the ball with a defender all over him, somehow pinned the ball to his helmet as he fell to the ground, but managed to retain control of the ball. A quick timeout allowed the Giants to regroup, then it was on to score the winning touchdown a few plays later.
Perfect season? Nope. The Patriots join the Bears and 49ers as the only teams to finish a season with an 18-1 record. The primary difference? Both the Bears and 49ers won their Super Bowl games.
