As Expected…

LSU moved up one spot to #2 in the latest BCS rankings. The top five currently are:
Ohio State – Probably overrated, but they just keep winning
LSU – I’ve posted plenty about them ![]()
Oregon – An impressive offense, but can they stop anyone?
Kansas – You know that victory over Nebraska had to feel really, really good…
… my favorite headline read “Kansas Creams Cornhuskers” ![]()
Oklahoma – Climbing back into the top ranks after their early season loss to Colorado
I don’t think it’s any secret that if you are going to lose a game, make sure to lose it early in the season so there is time to recover. If Ohio State were a one-loss team like most of the rest of the top five, would they still be ranked #1? If they lose to Michigan at the end of the season, will they still play for the title? I don’t think so. Oklahoma is a great example of this… their early season loss to Colorado hurt them at the time, but as teams ahead of them lose later in the season they’re still moving back up.
And where the heck did Kansas come from? I am sure quite a few pollsters are scratching their heads over that one. They were picked by most to finish in the middle or bottom of the pack in the Big 12 North division, and here they are standing at 9-0 and seemingly on their way to the championship game and a date with Oklahoma.
Isn’t college football great?
I love this time of year…
