“Long Road Out of Eden”

The Eagles have released a new studio album. In a move that follows a trend from several major artists they are releasing the album (a two disc set) exclusively at Wal*Mart. No major label, no big contracts, and therefore no fees to pay.

The album has 20 songs on two discs and is selling for $11.88. And it’s good. Really good. If you liked the classic Eagles work, there are no surprises here. They’ve managed to capture and recreate some of the sound that will take you back 20 years or more. As I’m listening to the songs there is no mistaking Glenn Fry’s vocals, Don Henley shines too. There are some softer, more introspective songs, as well as some rockin’ tunes as well. There’s even a few that take you back to the country roots of some of the early Eagles work, including a song you might hear on Sirius (”How Long”). There is another song (”Fast Company”) that could have come off of “Hotel California” but has a more modern feel to it.

You can find it on Amazon.com, but only from external sellers. Their prices are higher than what you would pay if you just went to Wal*Mart yourself. :-P
