Tigers Beat Tigers on Last Second Touchdown

That would be LSU beating Auburn for those that are curious.
It was a game that certainly lived up to its advance billing. Auburn played extremely well in a tough environment. LSU played well enough to win in the end. Now if LSU can take out Alabama next week we’ll be in excellent shape as far as the LSU conference title. The Tigers are currently ranked #3 in all of the major polls. I imagine a lot of LSU fans will start rooting for Michagan now.
Who would we face if we get that far? Kentucky lost to Florida, and USC lost to
Vandy, leaving all but one team in the SEC East tied for first place with two conference losses. Who was it that said just a few weeks ago…
I don’t think anyone expects Vandy to contend for the title.

Oh yeah, it was me.
Vandy is only one game behind the rest of the teams. I still don’t expect them to challenge for the title but they certainly are helping to make things interesting.
At the beginning of the season I pointed out the Alabama game as one of “interest” to LSU fans. I still think that it will be… First of all, it’s an away game for the Tigers. Second, Alabama is coming off of a very convincing win over Tennessee that pushed them back into the top 25 (and dropped Tennessee out) this past weekend. Last, and certainly not to be underestimated in my opinion, is the first battle between LSU and their former coach Nick Saban who returned to coach college football this year. (Given the current state of the Miami Dolphins I have to say it looks like a great move on his part.)
If LSU gets by Alabama they own their own fate. They will have one loss in the SEC West and every other team will have at least two. They play LA Tech and Mississippi (both games they should win) and at home against Arkansas. Hopefully the Arkansas game will be meaningless as far as conference standings by the time that game rolls around.
Who is going to win the SEC East? I would have said Kentucky but Florida (coming off extra rest) really took the game over. I might have said USC but for some reason they dropped one that they should not have. Florida has been working through some injuries and certainly appears to be capable of returning to the league championship.
A rematch of Florida and LSU on a “neutral” field would be a very interesting game. We’ll have to see what happens over the next few weeks to see if that will take place.
